From generalist to TD: the VEX you need first
The jump from Houdini artist to TD is mostly about confidence with data. Start with attribute wrangles: reading and writing point attributes, groups and simple noise.
Next, learn to query other geometry with point clouds and nearpoints, and to drive parameters with channel references. These cover most of what junior TDs are asked to do.
Finally, package something. Turning a wrangle into a small, documented HDA shows a lead you think about the people who will use your work.
